Swyrl Frozen Yogurt in Lynbrook, NY

I drive by Swyrl almost every day and never stopped in. I am a big fan of Red Mango and other places like it.

I was craving sweets a few days ago and decided to check it out. I am always conscious about how smaller places treat food allergies. There were more than a few people inside and waited for everyone to be helped before I made a pain out of myself and the gluten issue.

One of the girls working was so gracious and helpful. She explained all the ingredients were listed on the screens above the flavors as well as clear labels about allergens on each one. She knew which flavors (without looking) had gluten in them. All nutritional info is also available on these monitors if you are watching calories, sugar, or food allergens.

The gimmick to Swyrl is you get to make your own. You get a cup and can put how much or little you want and help yourself to which ever topping you like. I tried a little chocolate, vanilla, and Georgia peach (it was amazing). I had mini marshmallows with it (an underrated ice cream topping in my mind.) Then they weigh your cup and you pay by the ounce.

Everything about this place was a plus from the nice twist on frozen yogurt to the extremely kind and helpful staff. Most help yourself places tend to get a little dirty too but everything was extremely clean and there was no mixing of the self serve toppings where stuff from one gets into another. I was even informed that an owner’s relative has Celiac and is extremely attentive to monitoring allergens at the shop.

If you haven’t stopped by, please check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.
